The Gewerbemuseum offers much more than accessibility.
In the MATERIAL LAB you can explore the world of materials not just with your eyes, but also with your hands, ears and even nose. Visitors are encouraged to handle some 1000 specimens, listen to descriptions of the specific properties of materials at audio stations, and smell the aromas of all kinds of substances.

Private tours in sign language

Would your group like a private tour of the exhibition in sign language? We will be happy to arrange this.

Workshops for people with a visual impairement

The museum will shortly be offering a module for the blind and visually impaired in the MATERIAL LAB, as part of the "Workshops for everyone" series. Interested? Please contact us and we will keep you informed.

Barrier-free access

The museum building is fully wheelchair accessible, including the toilet facilities. Access to the museum is via a ramp, the upper floors are served by a lift, and a wheelchair is available if required. If you need additional assistance, our reception team will be happy to help. Entrance to the Gewerbemuseum Winterthur is free for the disabled person and their companion, on production of proof of disability.

Folding chairs

If you would like to sit down from time to time while visiting the exhibition or during a guided tour, you may borrow a folding chair at the reception desk.
