The Colours of Architecture

Colours have always played an important role in architecture. Especially in times of upheaval, when concepts and trends are constantly changing, it is apparent that we perceive them as signals charged with emotion and individuality. The identity and meaning of our architecture are necessarily reflected in its colours and materials.

In “The Colours of Architecture”, the design institute Domaine de Boisbuchet takes a look at the broad palette of regional colour choices, influenced as these are by local stones and pigments. It ranges from the international architectural concepts of the 1920s through to current research projects. This international research laboratory for design and architecture, which is located on a country estate in south-west France, regularly holds workshops, exhibitions and events which include access to its outstanding design collection and library.
